High Horology and Motorsport collide to create a one-of-a-kind Roger Dubuis Experience organized by Timepieces

On 23 to 24 August 2022 a highly curated guest list of watchmaking enthusiasts were invited by TIMEPIECES Cambodia to experience Roger Dubuis’ world of Hyper Horology. Since 1995, Roger Dubuis has been at the forefront of combining traditional watchmaking Savoire Faire with 21st century elements resulting in extremely audacious and mesmerizing timepieces. And the recent experience mirrored this sentiment exactly.

To minimize the spread of COVID-19 and reduce close contacts among distinguished guests, this experience was appointment-based and only open to a strictly curated list of elite guests. Due to the intimate nature of the event, it was held within the boutique’s event area which was set up so that VIP guests could engage in thrilling conversation whilst enjoying this one-of-a-kind experience.

On the traditional watchmaking side of things, an exquisite Poinçon De Genève showcase was arranged for guests. Roger Dubuis remains one of the very few watch brands in the space that can say 100 percent of their watches bear this incredible seal. To achieve this, each component of the watch must be meticulously hand-finished in keeping with the traditional spirit of artisanship cultivated in Geneva, Switzerland.

After a brief explanation, guests were presented with components, some smaller than a fingernail, to try their hand and hand-finishing techniques.

To give guests an idea of just what an enormous task this is, each of the attendees were invited to try their hand at some hand-finishing techniques. They were guided by a watchmaker from Roger Dubuis, Mr. Julien, to offer guests some insight into the arduous process behind all their watches.

Although the concepts seemed simple, guests soon found out just how much skill it takes to hand-finish just one of these small and delicate components.

Additionally, all guests were also invited to participate in a thrilling Pit Stop Challenge. The watch that was presented during this activity was the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Pirelli collection which was inspired by the pit stops of some of the world’s most demanding motorsports. Through this collaboration, they use the rubber from race-winning tyres and incorporate these elements into the watches. Another incredible feature of this collection is that the bezel, crown and strap are all interchangeable with a simple click.

Then, offering a glimpse of what the artisans at the Roger Dubuis Manufacture can produce, the Excalibur MT Eon Gold 42mm and Excalibur MB Pink Gold 42mm were also on display. The Excalibur watches are designed like contemporary works of art and symbols of passion. Every single component is finished by hand. The work of hyper skilled craftsmen is at the forefront of each watch with a direct view on the creative mechanism.

This watch offers a thrilling skeleton movement. Guests were delighted to be able to put on these incredibly fine timepieces from Roger Dubuis.

During the event, Roger Dubuis-themed drinks curated by Seekers Mixologists were presented to guests accompanied by delectable canapés, individually portioned for the comfort of each guest.
